Operate PND WinCE OS.

You need to unlock your PNA device. Hereunder, is the tools for you, it doesn't unlock your device really, but it will help you to operate WinCE OS.

1. Find your Navigation directory, it should be in folder.
2. Extract tools.rar to this directory.
3. Check your navigator program, it shoud be xxx.exe or navigator.exe, or something .exe else.
4. Rename your navigator program to any name.
5. Rename explorer.exe to your navigator program name, such rename explorer.exe to x2.exe,
or navigator.exe, etc.
6. Run your navigator from your PND main menu
7. Now, it shoud run explorer instead of xxx.exe, and you will manage WinCE in file manager.
8. Click Regedit.exe, and import serial_Class.reg, if your PND is built up as standard WinCE,

Change Internet Explorer Title

How to change IE title ?
1. Start-Run-gpedit.msc
2. Choose User Configuration-Windows Setting-Internet Explorer Maintenance-Browser User
Interface-and double click Browser Title.
3. Activate Customize Title Bars.
4. Type something in there. ( let's type ABCDE or your name or whatever.You also can stop here and restart IE)

To completely remove IE title continue with this step.
5. Fire up Regedit ( start-run-type regedit )
6. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Main.
7. Look for the key Window Title.

Windows XP users

1. Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
2. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
3. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
4. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter.
5. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password.
6. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer.

   copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

This solution is for corrupt NTLDR and/or NTDETECT.COM file.

This is how we can convert map from PND4.3" to suitable with PND 3.5".

1. Open map file with Ultra Edit.
2. Go to 0x0000020h.

F8 A8 F8 A8 EF A8 99 A8 9A A8 98 A8 FC A8 FF A8.

4. Save it. Copy to map folder and it's ready to use it with PND 3.5".

Install Mapsource

1. Open MapSource Folder

2. Search for "Main.msi".
3. Install it.

4. Install MFMv140.exe.( Find the latest version in MfM forum if you need it )

4. Choose to copy file to Garmin@SD card if you want the .img file.
5. Or just choose to use with with computer.

Win32:Virut - Virus that target .exe files

Summary

Virus:Win32/Virut.BM is a polymorphic file infector that targets .EXE and .SCR files. This virus also opens a backdoor by connecting to an IRC server, allowing a remote attacker to download and execute arbitrary files on the infected computer.

Prevention

Take the following steps to help prevent infection on your system:

• Enable a firewall on your computer.
• Get the latest computer updates for all your installed software.
• Use up-to-date antivirus software.
• Use caution when opening attachments and accepting file transfers.
• Use caution when clicking on links to web pages.
• Avoid downloading pirated software.
• Protect yourself against social engineering attacks.

And for me, i've installed AVG Anti Virus with Identity Protection. Everytime you open .exe files from your hard disk, usb or cd, it will scan the files and take the suitable action if there is a Win32:Virut.

Symptoms

There are no common symptoms associated with this threat. Alert notifications from installed Antivirus software may be the only symptom(s). And the bigger problem is some of the .EXE files will crash. You cant open it because when you open it, pop up menu from windows
( it's fake ) will ask you to report this problem to Microsoft lab.

How to Update C847 rom

Download the correct OS image from http://www.evergrowtek.com/

1.Unzip that "update_related files.zip" . Copy the file:osupdate.lst to SD root.

2. Unzip the 3.xxx.43.zip you will get 4 *.bin files , put them to root of SD

3. Insert SD and power on device, the ROM updating will auto start

4. If update failure or the update cant succesful, put the related file lowformat.enb
to SD . and this flag will erase all flash data, including :logo, OS,UI application( 9.10.1.44),
so you should download the last UI shell package like : shell_upgrade_9.10.1.xx_xx.zip,
unzip it and copy the folder shell_upgrade to SD
( remember: only shell_upgrade folder, don’t include any shell_upgrade.)

NOTE:
1. 3.xxx.43.x , example: 3.10011.43.E show this main version is 3.10011 and 43 is for 4.3' LCD and the E show this version is a English version. A is a Arabic and the C is chinese version, the J is for Japan version.
2. Please use 2GB and below SD card.
3. Normally, update will need about 3 minutes, if you have no work for a long time, you only need to do a reset or do a clean update (with lowforma.enb file)

To use Mapking R12 version ( actually suitable with PDA phone ) with any PND, you must edit the header files of the map. Try to find any Hex editor software like IDA or Ultra Edit. Open the map and dont forget to backup the maps if something happen.

This is the R12 map open with UltraEdit.

1.Go to address 00000020h.
2. You should see E5 A8 E9 A8 FB A8 E1 ...
3. And you have to replace them with this code.
E5 A8 9B A8 F0 A8 91 A8 F7 A8 E5 A8 E5 A8 E9 A8.
4. Save it and done.
